Timothy AndreyName/Title: Timothy Joseph Andrey
First Impression: A somewhat tired-looking man, Tim usually has a friendly smile and sympathetic ear for anyone who is willing to talk.
Sex/Gender: Male Age: 24 Birthday: April 22nd Country of Origin: England Occupation: Officially: Lawyer. Unofficially: Dealmaker, blackmailer, middleman, contact...
Hair: Short, dark brown hair. He is clean-shaven apart from a small, neat moustache. Eyes: Dark green Complexion: Fairly pale, the legacy of too much time spent either indoors or awake at night. Stature, Build and Carriage: A man of average height, he blends into the background under normal circumstances. Due to his limp, he has a fairly characteristic gait. Distinguishing Characteristics: A moderate limp in his right leg, souvenir from the Anglo-Zulu War. It doesn't impede his normal movements, save for the fact that he gets winded sooner than normal. However, it makes it almost impossible for him to run for any appreciable distance. Attire: Under normal circumstances, Tim will wear a faded brown suit and a bowler hat. Both have seen better days, but remain in good condition. He prefers not to wear a necktie unless he believes that it would cause a client to be better disposed to him. What they Carry: Tim carries a shoulder bag containing a pad of paper, pens and ink, string, ribbons, matches, a penknife, a small wax candle and a flask of brandy. He is also likely to carry notes on relevant cases, but the originals are always kept at home.
Relationships: No significant relationships. He is estranged from his family, or more specifically from his father, who won't permit any other family members to contact him. Tim is a bachelor who keeps low company. As such, he is neither courting, nor does he have any wish to do so at present.. Parentage: His mother Nora, and his father Edward, a country vicar. Siblings: An elder brother and a younger sister – Percy and Amelia. From a young age, Tim idolised Percy but considered Amelia to be distressingly vapid. Since their father has forbidden any and all communication, they rarely hear from each other save by chance. Children: None Other Family: Both his mother and father had several siblings, most of whom had families of their own. Since being disowned him, he has lost contact with them, a situation that sometimes distresses him. The only exception is his grandmother on his mother's side, who considers him to be a silly boy who will grow out of his ideas eventually. As such, he receives a long and detailed letter from her on the first Friday of every month. Friends: A large number of friendly acquaintances, but few he would consider to be true friends. He is still in sporadic communication with members of his old regiment, but shares very few personal details with them. He has a small number of close friends from his days at university, some of whom he trusts implicitly due to their shared secrets and history. However, in his daily life, Tim has few close friends, preferring to keep his relationships amicable yet superficial. Pets: None
Personality: Tim is a friendly person. While he may not like everyone he meets, he knows that life runs so much smoother if he makes the effort. As such, he tends to make friends fairly easily. His habit of accepting information or future favours from his clients in lieu of payment also makes him popular. Likes: Life's little luxuries. During the Anglo-Zulu War, Tim suffered a severe crisis of faith which resulted, amongst other things, in his decision to indulge in most of those activities that would be considered sinful. He tempers this with common sense, but is known to overindulge upon occasion. Dislikes: Lack of choices. Tim always prefers that there be a number of options available at all times. Perhaps the other options won't even be considered, but they need to be there, else he feels trapped. Loves: Intrigue and complexity Most Valued: Objects: His collection of books. Places: Small parks, where he can sit and enjoy the quiet. People: Anyone who knows something interesting and is willing to expound at length on the subject. Skill/Talents: Tim is, obviously, a fairly competent lawyer, specialising in contracts although he turns his hands to any task necessary. He has also acquired a number of other, less acceptable skills, including shadowing, bribery and blackmail. He avoids all forms of violence if at all possible, partly due to distaste, and partly due to having no aptitude for it whatsoever. Due to his extensive contacts, not to mention the number of people who owe him favours, he can usually obtain someone's services at reasonably short notice, often at significantly reduced rates. Strengths: Once Tim agrees to do something, he will pursue it to the end for as long as it seems that success is possible. Shortcomings: Tim has a compulsion – he likes to push boundaries and to tempt people into doing things that they would like to do, but know full well that they should avoid. Although he rarely does this to be malicious, he thrives on the guilt that they feel, and on the power that he has over them. He also has a weakness for beautiful women, and can be easily manipulated by one. For this reason, he tries to arrange matters so that either the situation is purely professional, or he has the upper hand.
Current Residence: A small flat tucked away in a respectable corner of London. Lifestyle: A member of the middle-class, often slumming it. Interests/Hobbies: Reading plays, networking, Languages spoken: English, Latin, Greek
Life Timeline: Born in 1859 as the son of a parish vicar, Tim's early life was spent surrounded by the Church, and it was expected that he would follow in his father's footsteps. He studied law at university under a church scholarship, and, when the Anglo-Zulu War broke out, shipped out to serve as an assistant to an Army Chaplain, Morgan Butler. However, the stupidity, destruction and wanton slaughter of the War caused him to first doubt his faith, then to finally lose it, believing that it was not not possible to reconcile a benevolent deity with the evils he saw in the world. Returning to England at the end of the War, he resumed his studies, but those who knew him well soon noticed his avoidance of all religious matters, a significant obstacle, since his scholarship was provided by the church. This was the cause of a number of arguements with his father, which escalated to the point where he was formally disowned and forbidden from communicating with his family, a serious blow to him. Now alone, he sought the company of others, and eventually fell in with a small group of students who were primarily concerned with the sins of the flesh. He gained his taste for luxuries from this period, and given the opportunity, will still indulge in good food and wine, not to mention other less savoury treats. Since then, he has worked his way up from being a penniless ex-student to being a moderately successful legal advisor and practitioner. Unfortunately, in order to reach this position, he was forced to resort to a number of less than ethical practices. With each one coming easier than the last, he eventually began to use them as a matter of course, a situation that no longer bothers him.
Motivations/Goals: To experience things, to manipulate and tempt others, to prove himself.
Quote: “I hear that you have a problem. Perhaps we could talk about it?”
